A network of more than 30 experienced teachers is working in this mission to champion the teaching of music in London in collaboration with the school. The school currently has more than 200 students and has centres in New Malden, Langley (Slough),Harrow, Feltham, and Hounslow. Promotion of music education is high on TSCM's list of priorities and lobbies for serious investment in the music teaching and training of young children. Orchestral practices are held regularly which also lead to informal performances of live music covering a broad and interesting repertoire including entertainments at parents' evenings. Also there are wide-ranging activities cater for children with different levels of musical ability. TSCM organises term concerts and an annual student showcase 'Swaralaya' every year. As well as giving young people a chance to improve their musical, learning and teamwork skills, the orchestras also provide an opportunity to mix and socialise with new people from similar background and musical interests. So far the school has produced 20 vocal and violin arangetrams.Īn abundance of opportunities are available for young musicians for making music and performing in its award winning orchestras 'Nadha Manjari', the popular Youth Orchestra, 'Raga Ranjani' the Senior Orchestra and 'Bala Manjari' the Junior Orchestra, which have won the overall Trophy for the Indian Music Ensemble at the Croydon Music Festivals 2003,2004,2005,20. There are a large number of books on many aspects of Carnatic mu sic but I have found most of them to be of an advanced nature - they have lots of good information but it is extremely difficult for a novice to start learning about music using them. Also the school has earned recognition for excellence from other institutions by its students winning prizes and trophies at music competitions and festivals. London's long established Trinities School of Carnatic Music (TSCM) has been offering music lessons in carnatic music for more than two decades. Please get in touch, if you would like to join our music classes.
